A pioneer of Electronics and Computer education and research in Bangladesh, Professor M. Lutfar Rahman is the Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU), Dhaka. Previously Dr. Rahman served DIU as the Vice Chancellor (2011-2015) and then as Emeritus Professor from 2015. He was the founding Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Bangladesh (2008-2009) and the founding Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka.

Prof. Rahman served as chairman and member of numerous committees related to education, research, and technology and received awards and prizes from Bangladesh and abroad. He served as President of the Bangladesh Electronics Society (now Bangladesh Electronics and Informatics Society) from 2010 to 2017.

Dr. Rahman, having teaching and research experience in Bangladesh and abroad, obtained B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Physics from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University, England. He has over 200 research papers and numerous scientific and technical articles to his credit. He is the author, editor, and co-author of seventeen books on electronics, computer, and electronic communications.
