A pioneer of Computer education and research in Bangladesh, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman is the Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU), Dhaka. Previously Dr. Rahman served DIU as the Vice Chancellor (2011-2015) and Emeritus Professor (2015-2020). He was the founding Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Bangladesh (2008-2009) and the founding Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka. Dr. Rahman, having teaching and research experience in Bangladesh and abroad, obtained B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Physics from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University, England. He has over 200 research papers and over 100 scientific and technical articles to his credit. He authored/co-authored 16 books on Electronics, Electronic Communications and Computer Science and Engineering. Dr. Rahman, President of Bangladesh Electronics Society since 2010, has significant contributions for the expansion of computer science education and research in Bangladesh. He was awarded numerous national and international prizes and awards for his contributions to higher education and research.
