FELLOWSHIP / TRAINING

  • Three months (May - July, 1996): Visiting faculty at the University of Alberta, Canada. Conduct research on the application of three holes probe 2-D velocity measurements using LabVIEW as data acquisition system. Sponsor: Dr. Rajaratnam, Professor, Civil Engineering Department, University of Alberta.
  • Two months (January - February, 1995): Visiting faculty at University of Texas at Austin, USA and experience gained on different hydraulic measuring instruments used both in laboratory and field and automated data acquisition system. Sponsor: Dr. E. Holly, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Texas at Austin.
  • One week training course on Environmental Auditing (1994), jointly organized by Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology and LBJ School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin.
  • Sediment Transport Measurement on the River Scheldt (Belgium) (1991): Organized a measuring campaign during the flood period of a spring tide. Water level, point velocity (by OTT current meter), suspended material (by pump sampler) and bed material (by BTMA) was continuously recorded in two verticals from a bridge crossing the river Scheldt at Temse. Sponsor: Catholic University of Leuven.
  • One week (1998): Participated in a training program on APEX and SWAT watershed management and hydrological modeling. Jointly organized by the Forest Department, Bangladesh and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nation, held at Forest Department, Dhaka.
  • Six weeks (January - February, 1998) laboratory investigation on Vlugther gate at the Hydraulics laboratory of Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands under joint faculty research. Sponsor: Prof. R. Brouwer, Technical University of Delft.
